Robert
Montgomery is an artist and also the Associate Publisher of Dazed & Confused. Robert has a first class honours
degree in painting and an MFA from Edinburg College of Art. In 1994
he initiated the Aerial project a landmark exhibition funded by the
Scottish Arts Council. From 1995 to 1997 he was a core artist-in-residexnce
at the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston, and his work is now in the
museum’s permanent collection. He has exhibited at Transmission
gallery in Glasgow, Contemporary arts Museum in Houston, The embassy
and the Talbot Rice Gallery in Edinburgh, The Margaret Thatcher Project
in New York and in London at Trolley Gallery, Sketch, Dazed&Confused
Gallery and FMCG. Since 2003 he has carried out his Words in The
City at Night project – a series of text pieces hijacking advertising
spaces with melancholic and often political texts in the streets
of London, Edinburgh, Newcastle and New York. His most recent exhibition
was in Summer 2007 at the BALTIC, Newcastle/Gateshead. The exhibition
curated by Jérôme Sans Dazed Versus Warhol featured
a major series of his texts and photographs over advertising around
the city of Newcastle.
